SPRING CLEANUP

Consists of cleaning up leftover leaves from fall/winter out of the lawn and flower beds. Power raking and dethatching of the lawn to remove dead grass to encourage new spring growth. Core Aerations can be done at this time as well as seeding, fertilizing and liming of the lawn. Repair edges of lawn from the winter salting and plowing. Prune back perennials. Summer blooming plants/bushes can be pruned at this time, but spring bloomers that have started to bud should not be pruned until after blooming. Spring is also a good time to have your gutters cleaned out if they weren’t done in the fall.

FALL CLEANUP

Remove and haul away all sticks, branches & leaves from the lawn and flower beds. Apply winter fertilizer to ensure spring green up, and cut the lawn one final time for the season. Lawn will be cut a little shorter than normal (which is 2.5” to 3”) to prevent matting, disease and rodent damage. Ornamental grasses should be cut back at this time as well. Cut back and shape spring flowering shrubs. Fall is also a good time to plant spring bulbs and winterize your hoses and outdoor faucets.
